Any suggestions on a small container for powder? It needs to have a “shaker” type top, so I can shake out just a bit of the powder.

I love the go toobs and the go tubs as they do not leak and I usually find I don’t use all the product that I brought. Another commenter mentioned contact lens cases and I second this recommendation. I have found them to be a perfect size and leak free for many of my toiletry products like moisturizer and foundation. Easy to clean when you get back home and reuse. I never use as much as I think I will. At first this part of packing carry on only seems impossible, but it’s totally doable and you’ll refine and find you can downsize even more the more you practice and learn.

I was especially grateful for the ideas on decanting toiletries into smaller containers, and for non-liquid alternatives like Sweet & Sassy Shampoo and Conditioner bars! I actually cut the bars in half to save space and kept them in a snack size ziploc bag. Another big win was the suggestion to soak cotton rounds with some eye makeup remover (which I needed for my waterproof mascara), and store the cotton rounds in a ziploc bag, as well, eliminating another liquid. Brilliant! Thanks so much, TFG!

I use a small plastic container like the ones in today’s email for day face cream – in which I have premixed a good moisturizer and a tinted sunscreen along with a stronger face sunscreen. This gets multiple needs into one container. I only use a quart zip baggie for my liquids, and before I close it off I add a snack size baggie as the last item. It contains lip gloss, a small tube of hand cream and chapstick. When I’m through security, I can remove that and keep it at my seat during the flight. My non-liquids go into two different baggies – one for things I know I will use every day on the trip and one for items that I don’t want to be without but may only use periodically or not at all. We check in carry-on’s only and separate baggies are so easy to pack into the ‘trenches’ created by the retractable handles of the bag!

One lid is white, one green, so you can distinguish which is which.
I also found a mini mascara, sample size toothpaste from the dentist, mini sized Argan oil for my hair, listerine strips, makeup remover pads.
